The Concealed Masterpiece
In classical bespoke tailoring, the interior lining of a coat is considered the wearer’s private canvas—a hidden luxury intended not for the public eye, but for the person slipping into the garment.
At House of Bera, this principle takes its highest form in The Illustrated Map. Rather than using plain, uninspired jacquards or synthetic poly-satins, the inside of every signature quilted jacket and coat is lined with our archival cartographic artwork, turning the inner sanctum of the garment into an illustrated heirloom.
The Medium — High-Density Silk-Touch Twill
Transferring a detailed, hand-drawn vintage map onto fabric requires a textile that balances fluid drape with microscopic print definition:
Twill Weave Density: Woven with a diagonal rib structure that provides tensile strength against daily friction while maintaining a cool, frictionless glide over base layers.
Natural Breathability: Allows body heat to circulate freely through the natural wool and cotton batting core without trapping moisture.
Lustrous Parchment Tone: Specially dyed in an antique ivory-parchment base tone that replicates the look and warmth of centuries-old court scrolls.
The 4-Stage Print Process
Micro-Pigment Precision: Using specialized archival dyes, every fine line—from the whiskers of the Jawai leopard to the reins of the polo pony and the battle armor of Maharana Pratap—is reproduced with razor-sharp fidelity.
Colorfast Resilience: The printed fabric undergoes steam fixation, ensuring the rich hues of burnt sienna, deep indigo, forest olive, and gold remain vivid through years of wear and dry cleaning.
The Floating Stitch Technique: Our tailors affix the lining using a traditional floating method rather than rigid machine borders. This allows the outer corduroy shell and the inner silk lining to expand and breathe independently.
